Sunday Walk - Warcop Range Walk
The walk, re-arranged from July, aimed to explore the fells around the Warcop military firing range, subject to change on the day if firing was taking place. After another few days of persistent rain, the Sunday forecast was for a frosty morning followed by a good sunny day. This forecast was spot on, and after scraping the windscreens 8 members met up at Murton car park. With no firing taking place, the group set off to walk up Scordale visiting the remains of the 17C/18C lead mining. Lunch was taken in the sunshine after crossing the beck, before setting off over rough fell for the summit of Burton Fell. After eventually finding the trig point hidden within a circular wall, the group dropped down to Swindale for the return back to Murton. Thanks to Mike and Cath Palk for a superb day out: and what weather!
	The drive into the Tebay Gorge from Grayrigg revealed this lovely view with low hanging cloud.
The group set off from Murton in low cloud, but by the time the lower slopes of Mell Fell were reached, the cloud was starting to thin, and Roman Fell came into view in the distance.
	Now in sunshine, the group stops again to revel in the view of the cloud filled Eden Valley.

The return to Murton was made in lovely sunshine, and the evening sun gave some lovely light on Roman Fell.
Majorca
After the wettest summer on record, many members felt the need for some sunshine, and Angie and Hugh had a week on Majorca for some walking, swimming and painting in the sun. Apart from the first full day which was wet, the rest of the week was lovely and warm.
	The nice rocky top of Puig Major, the highest peak on Majorca at 1,436m. Unfortunately its out of bounds as its a US military base - note the radar station on the summit on the right.

Coniston and Wetherlam
A lovely spell of weather towards the end of the month wasn't quite an "Indian summer" but was a great anti-dote to what had supposedly passed for our summer. Below is a view across Coniston Water from the east bank to the Old Man, and the view of Steel Edge - the best route up Wetherlam.
